Ayat Syleiman Ali

In 2003, eight year-old Ayat Syleiman Ali was living in Iraq with her family. One day her brother brought home a “toy” that took away Syleiman Ali’s four siblings, one cousin and burned 65 per cent of her body.

Syleiman Ali is now 15 years-old and is attending school in Sweden. She joined the Ban Advocates initiative for the first time at Oslo in December 2008. She speaks Arabic and Swedish.
