Operational management

Programme Director (f/m)

The Programme Director is the official representative of Handicap International with the authorities of the host country and institutional donors. This position requires an excellent sense of public relations. With his team in the field and at headquarters, the Programme Director decides on the strategic guidelines and future orientations of the programme, while ensuring its financial cover. He is also responsible for the security of staff and property.

The Programme Director will have to lead a team consisting of national and expatriate staff, and work under the coordination of an operational cell at headquarters.
Applicants for this position must have a university degree or equivalent, solid experience in managing a team and confirmed experience of minimum four years in the field.

Operations Coordinator (f/m)

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for the concrete implementation of the programme. He converts strategy into action.  He drafts and finalizes numerous project documents, such as financial proposals and/or activity reports.  He must make sure that the objectives that are fixed for the implementation of the project are achieved.  He helps the Programme Director to elaborate operational strategy, coordinates different parts of the project, and ensures that there is a good collaboration between the different project teams. He leads and motivates a team of project leaders and gives them support.
With solid training and experience in project management, the Operations Coordinator must have a university degree or equivalent experience; plus good knowledge of the themes implemented in Handicap international projects.  A three year experience in the field is also necessary.

Project Manager (f/m)

The project manager must be familiar with our themes and have experience in project management. He supervises the correct implementation of the project in their hands and is responsible for managing its human, administrative and financial resources.
The project manager implements the strategic directions decided by the programme manager and operations coordinator.
Applicants for the position of project manager must have several years experience.  He must have a degree in the relevant discipline and have field experience in a similar role.

Financial or logistic administrative management

Support Services Coordinator (SSC) f/m

The Support Services Coordinator is in charge of the administrative, financial and logistic management of the mission. To fulfil this assignment, he is assisted by a national team. He works in collaboration with his counterparts at headquarters.

As the SSC is responsible for administrative and financial management, he also guarantees compliance with the legal obligations of the organisation in the country of mission.

He applies the financial strategy, and manages the programme’s finances and budget.

If the mission has no Logistics Coordinator, the Support Services Coordinator supervises the supply chain and ensures good equipment management.

The SSC must have a University or higher education degree in economy, management or finance.  The person who wishes to apply must have at least three years administrative and financial experience.
 Logistics Coordinator  f/m
The Logistics Coordinator leads a national team in charge of managing stocks and orders, supply chain and maintenance of equipment as well as the fleet of vehicles. He must ensure that the rules for purchases are respected (tenders, quotations). The Logistics Coordinator also sets up safety and security rules in association with the Programme Director and the Operational Coordinator, in connection with Headquarters.
For this position, you should have confirmed experience in field logistics with another humanitarian association.  A degree in the area of logistics or ad hoc training is also a prerequisite.



Professions related to prevention, rehabilitation and integration of disabilities

Physiotherapist f/m

Our physiotherapists work in physical rehabilitation units and train national teams in specialised physiotherapy techniques for hospitals and psychomotricity. Depending on the context and the type of project, Handicap International may need physiotherapists specialised in certain types of injuries or specific physiotherapy techniques, particularly respiratory physiotherapy.

Training national staff is an important aspect of the position – good teaching skills are required. Experience in training adults is a significant asset.

Applicants with a degree in physiotherapy need to have a solid professional experience.
Experience in a developing country and/or in a hospital environment (orthopaedics, trauma, respiratory, etc.) is a plus.

Ortho-prosthetic technician f/m

Our orthopaedic technicians ensure the quality of production of specialised orthopaedic and prosthetic equipment and walking aids (crutches, wheelchairs, shoes), by training and advising national reference staff.

Training national staff is an important aspect of the position – good teaching skills are required. Experience in training adults is a significant asset.

You need to have a certified degree as an ortho-prosthetic technician with a solid professional experience.

Advisor f/m

An advisor reinforces the skills of the project teams thanks to his expertise of the project. He keeps an overview of the project, ensures its coherence and the quality of its implementation.

A technical advisor must be specialised in a theme corresponding to Handicap International's mandate: community-based rehabilitation, mother-and-child health, road safety, inclusive education as well as the rights of the disabled as they are referred to in the United Nations Convention.
