Advocacy Information & Publication Trainee

You will join the Federal Advocacy and Institutional Relations Unit (AIR) at Humanity & Inclusion office in Brussels. This unit coordinates, organizes, manages and implements the activities related to advocacy for HI network.
You will work under the under the supervision of the Advocacy Information & Publication Manager, and in close collaboration with the other members of the Advocacy team members, specifically the disarmament and protection of civilians team. Throughout the traineeship, you will be given opportunity to experiment varied tasks, and be given regular feedback on your performance to help you grow.

Responsibilities and Objectives

General objective: Support the implementation of the communication objectives, especially related to disarmament and protection of civilians topics.

Main tasks:

1. Assist in all advocacy and communication-related tasks, such as:
- Implementation of social media communication & strategic watch, 
- Copywriting and content updates on websites, namely on a new Federal website,
- Production and co-production of news articles for a blog. 

2. Analysis of the Victim Assistance statements in last three years on different international fora:
- Analyze messages in Victim Assistance statements, 
- Desk research on most relevant Victim Assistance and disability targets in Latin America. 

3. Support the creation of a mapping and analysis of media usage by targeted policy-makers, and assist in defining strategy to build contacts with relevant specialized media identified, taking into account HI existing presence in media and social media.

4. Create or improve digital and print tools for advocacy communication, working with photography and graphic design, specifically:
- Communication tools to support the dissemination of new publications on victim assistance,
- Video presentation of the advocacy department for internal purpose.

5. Assist with the organisation of dissemination events for advocacy study on victim assistance

6. Participate in team meetings and team life events.

Candidate profile (skills, knowledge & interests):

•    Background in communication, media (graphic design or similar also valued), 
•    Familiar with the concepts and use of Social Media, 
•    Good knowledge of Adobe suite: InDesign is necessary; Photoshop Illustrator & Premiere (or similar) highly valued, 
•    Proficient user of Microsoft Office package, 
•    Very good writing skills in French and English,
•    Dynamic, self-organized and detail-oriented,
•    Comfortable working in a multicultural environment,
•    Interest in the disarmament and humanitarian action sector.
